Everyone has the right to feel equal, safe, and respected. Unfortunately, women and gender-diverse people often face violence in their homes, communities, and workplaces. It doesn’t have to be this way.

On November 22, staff from the NJC joined the 2024 Walk Against Family Violence alongside Women’s Health in the North, aiming to shine a spotlight on the urgent need to prevent family violence and violence against women. More than 8,500 people took part in the walk, forming a powerful display of community support for change.

Together, we stand in solidarity with victim-survivors and reaffirm our commitment to building a community that is safe, gender equitable, and respectful for all.

The Walk Against Family Violence is a part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign dedicated to ending violence against women. The campaign runs annually from 25 November (The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to 10 December (International Human Rights Day), highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by women and gender-diverse people, and encouraging collective action toward lasting change.
